Rooted in Affirmation: Why I Founded Wild Bluebonnet Counseling
When you think of a wild bluebonnet, you might picture resilience. They are vibrant, they grow beautifully in groups, but more importantly, they thrive in their native soil exactly as they are. They don’t try to fit into an ecosystem that wasn’t built for them.
For a long time in my career, I felt like a plant trying to grow in the wrong soil.
Don’t get me wrong - working in group practices taught me immensely. But over time, I hit a ceiling. I realized I was limiting the depth of care I could offer because I was working within frameworks that weren’t mine. I had a vision for a practice that went beyond standard weekly talk therapy. I had a vision that included comprehensive neurodivergent assessments, intensive trauma processing, and the freedom to create a community-centered space.
Ultimately, I realized that to fully utilize my skills and offer the level of care my clients deserved, I had to build the soil myself. That is why I founded Wild Bluebonnet Counseling.
Doing Therapy Differently
Let’s face it: healing isn’t a checklist, and you certainly can’t be summed up in a standard symptom questionnaire. You are complex, and you deserve a lot more than just a band-aid solution. I wanted to create a space where we aren’t just trying to get you through the week, but actually changing how much you relate to yourself.
I built Wild Bluebonnet Counseling to be a soft landing spot for the things that matter most to you:
Relatable Neurodivergent Support: I am personally over the outdated idea that neurodivergence is a defect that needs to be “fixed.” Your brain is just wired differently, and that’s okay. Whether we are doing a formal assessment or navigating daily burnout, our work is about helping you understand, accommodate, and actually celebrate who you are.
Healing Trauma Below the Surface: Traditional talk therapy is great, but trauma doesn’t just live in our thoughts. Trauma gets physically stuck in our bodies and nervous systems. By bringing in tools like EMDR, Brainspotting, and IFS (Internal Family Systems), we can gently get to the root of those heavy, wounded parts of your story so you can finally breathe a little easier.
A True LGBTQIA+ Sanctuary: Finding a therapist who actually “gets it” shouldn’t feel like a gamble. You will never have to explain or justify your identity here. This is an explicitly safe, welcoming space where who you are is respected, understood, and woven into your healing journey without question.
Looking Forward: Growing the Ecosysem
Wild Bluebonnet Counseling isn’t just a place for individual healing; it’s a vision for a healthier mental health community.
Going solo has allowed me to step into roles I am deeply passionate about, including clinical consultation and, eventually, supervision for the next generation of therapists. By expanding into these areas, my goal is to help shape a network of clinicians who are deeply skilled, radically affirming, and equipped to provide the highest standard of trauma-informed care.
You Belong Here
If you have ever felt “too much,” “not enough,” or like you are constantly masking just to get through the day, I built this space specifically for you. You don’t have to change your nature to grow; you just need a space that supports your roots.
Whether you are seeking clarity through an assessments, looking to process trauma, or simply need a therapist who truly sees you, my doors are open. Welcome to Wild Bluebonnet Counseling.
